An opportunity to push the innovation ecosystem for African startups further
The South Summit African startups Edition is a joint digital initiative between South Summit and IE University that will bring together all the top players in the African innovation ecosystem. The second African edition of the Virtual South Summit took place on 20 May 2021. Experts and finalist startups were gathered to show how the innovation ecosystem in Africa has changed over the past year.
The virtual event took place in an incredible space, the WOW Room on the IE Business School campus in Madrid. WOW here means “Window on the World” – and with its 48 screens, this digital wall literally opened the windows worldwide for a great view of beautiful Africa.
African startups Competition
Five outstanding start-ups had a few minutes to present a pitch. They were judged on innovation, scalability, team, value and investment ability. Petra Wolkenstein sat on the jury in her role as African General Partner of Startup Wise Guys. Thanks to the futuristic space, the presentations were very vibrant and enjoyable.
